Lucy: 'To say I am totally hooked is an understatement'

Lucy: Week Three into my #5WeekSugarFree challenge and to say I am totally hooked is an understatement.

I was in the supermarket the other day and happened to be browsing in the book section. There it was, in pride of place on the top shelf , Davina’s book. 'Great' I thought, and ploughed through to page 103 to check what ingredients I needed in order to make one of my top five favorite recipes, being;

Davina’s Fish Pie – Page 103

This recipe is so simple, yet so tasty. The kids love a fish pie and every time my partner and I have cooked this and dished it up, all of the plates have been clean at the end of the meal – a winner every time!

Poached Eggs and Avocado – Page 29

This just doesn't sound like it should work, but it truly does. It’s one of my favorite lunchtime snacks – and it’s carb free!

Slow-roast Moroccan lamb– Page 124

Mix ras-el-hanout, oil, garlic, lemon juice, salt and pepper – what a marinade! Once cooked, the lamb just falls off the bone so no need to carve. This is a Sunday favorite in our house.

Shepherds Pie – Page 127

What do you think cinnamon in Shepherds Pie tastes like? It’s absolutely gorgeous, that’s what. Adding cinnamon, as Davina tells us to do, adds a real taste of Morocco. There is always a spare Shepherds Pie in the freezer for those nights getting home late from work/after school clubs.

Power Balls – Page 162

I love these cute ‘lil balls. They are enormously dense so you don’t need a lot to give you that chocolate hit – but boy do they do the job!

These are just a few of my favorite recipes that the whole family can enjoy. But there are many more yet to try. This coming week is going to be tough as Friday is my beloved Nan’s funeral – let’s just hope I don’t fall off the wagon.
